Each runner board is carefully made from quality pine wood and finished to enhance durability while maintaining its natural character. Handcrafted from pine wood and finished using the traditional Shou Sugi Ban wood-charring technique, each runner board is sealed for protection with either:
- Food-safe mineral oil, or
- Durable polyurethane sealer (matt or gloss).
Designed as a decorative table centrepiece and serving display, this board is not suitable for cutting or chopping.
Care:
Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Do not soak, submerge, or place in a dishwasher. Reapply mineral oil as needed (for oil-finished boards). Suitable for indoor and covered patio use.
Recommended Mineral Oil Maintenance:
- Normal decorative use:
Apply every 2–3 months to keep the wood hydrated and maintain its rich appearance. - Dry environments or outdoor patio use:
Apply every 1–2 months, as sun and air can dry the wood faster. - If the wood looks dry or dull:
Apply a light coat immediately to restore the finish.
How to Apply Mineral Oil
- Clean the board with a slightly damp cloth and allow it to dry completely.
- Apply a thin coat of food-safe mineral oil using a soft cloth.
- Let the oil soak in for 15–20 minutes.
- Wipe off any excess oil with a clean cloth.
Regular oiling helps prevent drying, enhances the wood grain, and keeps the Shou Sugi Ban finish looking rich and vibrant.
Important
Boards sealed with polyurethane (matt or gloss) do not require oiling—simply wipe clean with a damp cloth.
